The SWAT team is like a family. Most of the show is dedicated to the actual crime, but they also allow time to fill each character in so that the audience can invest in the characters. The man in charge of the group is Sergeant Gregory Parker (Erico Colantoni). He worked hard to get where he is in the show. He became a work-a-holic and drunk. The combination caused him to lose his family. He remained estranged to his family until season 3 when his son sneaks away from his aunts during a visit to see him.Second in charge is Ed Lane (Hugh Dillon). He is the father figure in the group. He is happily married with a teenage son, and a baby girl on the way. Many times he is the glue that binds the group together. Sam Braddock (David Paetkau) is an ex-military man who is used to taking orders and following the rules.
Flashpoint is an emotional journey following the lives of members of the SRU (Strategic Response Unit) as they solve hostage situations, bust gangs, and defuse bombs. They work by utilizing their training to get inside the heads of these people in order to make them reach their breaking point (aka their flashpoint).Sgt. Gregory Parker (Enrico Colantoni) leads the elite team on their missions. The show is based upon the experiences of the real life Toronto Police Emergency Task Force.
